Ryan Russell
FOUNDER / PRINCIPAL ARCHITECT
Ryan Russell is a Redding native and is Founder of RAD Studio Architecture & Design, established in 2015. His studio strives to introduce contemporary residential, commercial and public space architecture through the use of technology that provokes exciting, unexpected reactions and creates space that enhances the way people experience life and connect with each other.
He received a Master of Architecture from UCLA's School of Architecture and Urban Design in 2010, and a bachelor's degree in Business from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 2007. During his tenure at UCLA, he also studied under the late Zaha Hadid at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna, becoming fascinated with new digital tools, such as 3d modeling and 3d printing, that are reshaping how he designs and what is now possible to build.
He and his wife, Suzanne, live and work in downtown Redding and are passionate about seeing downtown Redding thrive and regain its identity. In their free time they enjoy getting outdoors for an adventure - snowboarding, mountain biking, kayaking, and traveling to experience to new places.
Ryan is a licensed Architect in the State of California and State of Montana.
Devin Medrud
PROJECT MANAGER / DRAFTER
Devin was born in the Redding area but moved around throughout his childhood spending most of his time where the coast meets the redwoods in a small town known as Arcata. After high school, he decided to go into the construction field as a carpenter where he spent eight years building custom residential homes and three years working on commercial projects where he was exposed to a variety of different construction methods.
In 2014, he studied Computer Aided Drafting and Construction Technology, graduating from the College of the Redwoods with an associate degree. He was introduced to programs such as Auto CAD and Revit where he quickly became attracted to the design process and knew that he wanted to pursue an occupation in the industry. He enjoys working with clients and consultants, moving projects through the design and construction process. He has experience as a Project Manager where has been independently responsible for those items along with Bid Documents and Construction Administration, where he was able to experience the connection from design to construction.
When he is not working, he enjoys spending time with his family. He has three very active sons, so he is constantly occupied with a variety of sports where he loves watching them grow and how their passions drive them to reach their goals. Devin enjoys being outdoors, enjoying many activities with his family including camping, hiking, hunting, fishing, and snowboarding.
Zach Peterson
ARCHITECTURAL DESIGNER / DRAFTER
Zach was born and raised in Wausau, Wisconsin. Wausau is located directly in the center of the state, and seen to many as the gateway to the northwoods of Wisconsin. Zach studied Architectural Technology at Milwaukee Area Technical College and has since been pursuing his passion in design and drafting.
Since graduating, Zach has had a history of producing high quality construction document sets and renderings. He has found a real passion in the industry for using technology to create a better completed product for the client as well as making the entire process as smooth and efficient as possible. He is continually looking for new ways to implement technology into the workflow to offer a helping hand.
Zach loves anything outdoors. He is a passionate mountain biker and road cyclist, and enjoys hunting and fishing as well. He and his wife, Hannah, enjoy spending weekends on the boat, camping, and spending time with family and friends.
Carissa Chapman
ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
Carissa was born in Hawaii and moved to Redding at a young age. After completing high school, she studied Fine Arts locally at Shasta College. In 2011 Carissa danced as an apprentice for Artesian Dance Company. Along with performing she enjoyed helping behind the scenes with make-up, hair, and teaching the dancers the director’s choreography. In 2016, Carissa and a few friends put together a dance group known as Freebird Dance. Together her friends choreographed and performed pieces locally for different dance collaboration performances. Although currently she is focusing on raising her daughter and working at RAD, she hopes to get back into dancing.
In her spare time, Carissa enjoys taking trips to Ashland and the Coast, as well as enjoying all the outdoor beauty Redding has to offer. She has enjoyed living and working in downtown Redding over the last several years and hopes to see more businesses open and thrive in the area. It is also her dream to see Redding continue to grow and offer more opportunities for the Arts.
Suzanne Russell
Marketing Director
Suzanne was raised in Redding and is passionate about small business, especially in Downtown Redding. Along with being part of the RAD Studio team, she owns a curated boutique clothing store, called Carousel. Suzanne is passionate about people, high quality goods and services, and community. When she isn't working you can find her travelling and adventuring with Ryan and her young son and dog.
